Mick Hanbury – March Seminar
I wasn’t able to be there on the day but I know everyone enjoyed Mick’s work. He showed how he makes bowls with a difference starting with the technique of using a hand held multi tool with a carbide cutter to make cutouts around the edge of the platter. This is time comsuming but the results are very worthwhile. He only did a small section as this was a demo of technique.

The next item was a Celtic type wall plaque or ‘Shield’. These have been popular sellers in his studio. The pictures tell the story and you will note the careful choice of colours to get a stunning result. Some of the pictures were taken through the safety screen so apologies for the milky reflections.

Mick finished off with a small urn with a lid and talking about hollowing techniques and tools.
